Francesca Di Maio
Francesca was born in Rome on 26/4/1974, and even though she is still very young, she already has a CV worthy of some of the great professional ballerinas.
She began studying rhythmic and artistic gymnastics at the age of six and later she seriously began studying classical and jazz dance. Francesca’s talents were visibly noticeable, and she had no problems whatsoever in passing her first screen-test.
She began her career in 1994 as a television ballerina working with the best Italian choreographers. After a period of working in television, Francesca began to take part in dance ensembles with important international artists.
In 1997, in the “PASSION” show staged by Momix, Francesca was the only Italian ballerina of the group. These experiences gave her the opportunity to travel abroad and she was worked and took lessons with great American choreographers.
In 2001 she became one of the sensational ballerinas of the Notre Dame performance and through the choreographer, Luca Tomassini, she was cast in singer Geri Halliwell’s music video It’s raining Men as her body double. She also worked with Kylie Minogue and Robbie Williams.
‘I have an immense passion for dance and for performing in general. I believe that to be defined an artist, you should never consider yourself as “having made it” because every new job and every new experience is a source of enrichment. Personally I consider myself a very lively person who loves to play and joke with everybody. I am a very solar person and also very ironical; I like to make fun of myself.’
Francesca, a true professional, is enthusiastic about working for the Amici school because she thinks the participants are all very talented and extremely motivated.
