Maria Zaffino

Maria Zaffino was born in Rome on 15 September 1977.
Her passion for dance started when she was small. Her idols were Heather Parisi and Lorella Cuccarini. When she was four years old her mother enrolled her in a classical ballet course. Her love for dance kept growing until dance became her one and only objective in life. Her dream was to become a classical ballerina.

In 1994, when she was 17 years old, Maria participated in the “Bravissima” competition winning the first prize. In the same year she also won the “television personality” award during the eleventh edition of the important Stefania Rotolo Trophy. She won a place in the dance group of “Buona Domenica” 94/95 hosted by Gerry Scotti and Gabriella Carlucci, where she worked alongside Mia Molinari and Fabrizio Macinini, the principal ballerinas of the series.
During this time she also worked as a solo ballerina in the television series “Re per una notte”, hosted by Gigi Sabani. After further screen-tests, Maria participated in the following programs: “Anima Mia” in 1997 with Claudio Baglioni and Natalia Estrada; “Sotto a chi tocca”; “Buona Domenica” 98/99; “Un Disco per l’estate” in 99; and once again “Buona Domenica” in the 1999/2000 edition. She left the series in April 2000 after becoming pregnant with her daughter Chiara.
Following her maternity, she returned to the dance scene in summer 2001 participating in the show “I Ragazzi irresistibili” with Rita Pavone, Little Tony, Maurizio Randelli and Adriano Pappalardo.

In the same year she returned to dance at “Buona Domenica” 01/02, and she did a television spot for San Benedetto together with Brian Bullard, as well as entering the "Amici di Maria De Filippi" school as an assistant to Maura Paparo and Garrison Rochelle. This is where Maria gained her popularity, which soon led to her becoming much more than a simple assistant. She worked again at “Buona Domenica” in the 2003/2004 edition and during this time she was confirmed for the 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006 editions of “Amici”.
