Sabrina Brazzo
Sabrina Brazzo completed her studies at the Dance School of the Scala Theatre in Milan.
She then danced with the Deutche Ham Rhein company of Heinz Spoerli for two years.
In Dusseldorf she danced as soloist in the ballets: “Three pieces” by Hans Van Manen, and as prima ballerina in the “Stravinsky violin concerto” by G. Bilancine, “Bach” by H. Spoerli and “Giselle”.
She then returned to the Scala Theatre company where she danced exclusively in the roles of principal and prima ballerina in “Piano Capriccio", "Apollon musagète", and "Serenade" by G. Balanchine, as well as "Sleeping Beauty", "Swan Lake", and "Cinderella" by R. Nureyev.
Sabrina Brazzo won the "Danza e Danza" critic prize as the best interpreter of the 1998/99 and 2000/01 seasons.
She was chosen by the great French ballerina Sylvie Guillem to dance in the role of Giselle with the choreography staged by the same artist. The show was presented at the Scala in Milan, the Lincoln Center in New York, and Covent Garden in London. On this occasion she was immediately nominated as prima ballerina by the director, Frederic Olivieri.
She continued to dance in other important roles of the dance repertoire, such as "Don Quixote" (Kitri) by Rudolf Nureyev, "The Taming of the Shrew" by John Cranko, "Now and then" by J. Neumeier, and "The Nutcracker" by R. Nureyev.
In May 2004 she interpreted the role of Odette in Swan Lake by V. Bourmaister at the Scala Theatre, acclaimed as a great success in all of the performances.
During the Triptych dedicated to the Russian composer Igor Stravinsky, once again at the Scala Theatre, she danced in the role of the Novice in the ballet entitled "The cage" by Jerome Robbins, and as Eluene in the "The Rite of Spring" by Maurice Bejart, this last role perfected with the choreographer in Lausanne.
In June 2006 in another triptych dedicated to the composer W.A.Mozart she danced in "Petit mort" by the Dutch choreographer Jiri Kilian, interpreting the fourth passage together with the first ballet dancer of the Scala Mick Zeni.
In December 2006 she danced at the Scala with considerable success in the role of Clara in the Nutcracker by Nureyev and then in January 2007 as Ippolita in “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” by G. Balanchine.
In March and April 2007, during the adieu to the prima ballerina of the Scala, Alessandra Ferri, she danced with great success in the role of Prudence in the ballet "The Lady of the Camellias" by John Neumeier.
